Data Protection breach by UK banks

11 banks in UK were found breaching data protection act of 1998 by the Information Commissioner, after investigating in to complaints about customer information disposal by banks. Royal bank of Scotland, NatWest, Barclay's, HBOS, Alliance & Leicester, United National Bank, Co-operative Bank, HFC Bank, Nationwide Building Society, The Post office, Scarborough Building Society and Clydesdale Bank all were found discarding personal customer details outside their premises.

And also the immigration advisory service was also found of breaching the Act in the same way.

The ICO has demanded those organizations to sign a formal undertaking to comply with the principals of Data Protection act and also they should face a detailed inspection on their security and personal data handling procedures.
